  1. Always be mindful of your surroundings. Unfortunately, not everyone attends Coachella just to enjoy the show. Some are there to prey on distracted event-goers who are not paying attention to the fact that their purses are open with expensive cell phones laying on top or they’ve got a wad of 20s sticking out of their pocket. Keep your valuables out of sight and out of reach.

  2. Take care of yourself - head to toe! Earplugs help to save your eardrums, sunscreen helps to save your skin and water helps to keep you hydrated in the hot, dry desert! In addition, dress in light layers for the potential 30-degree variance in day to night temps. Speaking of layers, make sure yours are comfortable and breathable! One last note on this topic - as much as you’d love to show off your new pedicure, think twice. You’ll be outside in dust and dirt, in close proximity to lots of other people whose dance moves won’t include watching out for your bare toes. Closed toe, broken-in comfy shoes or boots are the tickets here.

  3. Stay smart and proactive in keeping up with your friends. The first thing to remember is that cell phone service in the desert is notoriously spotty, so make a group determination beforehand regarding a specific place and time to meet. “8:00 at the Ferris wheel ticket booth” is way better than “8:00 at the Ferris wheel”. If you have to text each other during the course of the day, be sure to text affirmative statements such as “change meet spot to the beer garden at 9 pm” instead of “Can’t remember where to meet.” Also, be very judicious with your cell phone usage. There are no charging stations at the festival, so think twice before you do a 20-minute Instagram live feed.
