Madrid is filled to the brim with art, architecture, rare cuisine, and fabulous sites. It is the home of El Prado, which is arguably the world’s most renowned museum. This breathtaking city is one of the most exciting, colorful locations in the world, and offers rare luxury experiences to its many visitors.

So, what is there to do in Madrid? One place to start is with the local cuisine. Angulas are baby glass eels that are similar in appearance to spaghetti noodles. They are a traditional Basque dish, and are considered a delicacy, with one plate usually costing around $200. They may be a bit of a challenge for some visitors because if you look closely you can literally see the eyes of the eels peering back at you. However, many consider the dish to be delectable, and Madrid has several renowned restaurants that serve the delicacy, most notably La Trainera.

For many, when thinking of Spanish culture, we immediately envision a dark haired woman in a vivid red dress, dancing the Flamenco. This image comes to life at Corral de la Morriera, the home of flamenco shows. Located right next to the royal palace, many of the shows here are attended by celebrities, dignitaries, and luxury travelers. To find your perfect flamenco accessory, head to the high fashion boutique Kala, which was jointly founded by a model and a designer, and features home ware, furniture, and various fashion accessories. The shop stocks Kendra Miller jewellery, and the walls are lined with colorful, elegant hats. The shop is the perfect place for luxury travelers who are seeking classy Madrid fashion and design.

Aside from these unique Madrid activities, travelers can also enjoy a myriad of art museums, little cafes, plazas, and private tours. In addition to El Prado, Madrid is home to the Museo Romantico, a tiny Museo de Picasso, which contains only 62 works, as well as tons of great little galleries sprinkled throughout the city. Travelers can check with agents or their rental villa’s concierge to see where exclusive art openings and parties are taking place during their stay.

For an upscale drink, head to The Roof, Madrid’s famed rooftop bar with panoramic views. The city is filled with vibrant clubs, late-night shows, and unique bars. It’s one of those rare places where there really is something for everyone. Or you could always finish your day at your own private pool. Many celebrities and other luxury travelers these days are opting for vacation villas over staying in hotels. Luxury vacation home rentals offer travelers an extra degree of privacy, as well as personal amenities like fully stocked kitchens, dedicated staff, personal chefs, and entertainment space. Travelers can invite people over to their private rental villa to lounge by the pool, have some sangria on a rooftop deck, or simply enjoy the space, privacy, and amenities that staying in a luxury vacation villa offers.
